The Polk County Board of Education is back to business for the month of August just a day after school started and look to approve two policies, surplus items and bids for mobile units put out last month, according to their agenda online.
Board members will gather at 6 p.m. for the meeting at the Central Office at 612 S. College St., Cedartown, and have just a few items to go over and a Superintendent’s report as well.
Among those items to approve are previously tabled policies over grading and graduation requirement updates, the surplus of three buses and accepting a bid on mobile units that used to be classrooms.
The two policies were previously tabled and cover some minor changes, like the total number of points a honors course can give, and how dual enrollment courses are graded to fall in line with those policies already in place for the college-level classes on each syllabus for each course.
The graduation requirements have also been updated for the year to update the Georgia Alternative Assessment language, and define a Alternative diploma for students with special needs.
No information was yet available in the agenda about the Superintendent’s report.
Check back for additional information as it becomes available.
