A group of four who tried to run from police late Saturday night were jailed on multiple charges following a vehicle and foot chase, according to a Polk County Police report from the weekend.

Braxton Johnson, 17, Terry Vines, 19, April Marie Lackey, 37, and Hailey Greathouse 18, were all jailed when police caught up to three of them after 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 17 following a chase that saw at least one truck forced off the roadway.

Per the Polk County Police, two officers were on patrol on Highway 27 South and driving at 65 mph when a white Chevrolet Avalanche with no tag and no windshield pulled directly out in front of officers and forced the officer driving to slam on the brakes.

The Avalanche made a quick turn onto Wieuca Way and police followed, turning on their emergency lights and giving chase. The Avalanche ultimately got up to 45 mph on the short road connecting Highway 27 to Morris Drive, and pulled to a stop in front of a house.

Police reported the driver – later identified as Vines – got out of the truck and began to run into the woods. He was later located hiding under a trampoline not far away on Morton Springs Road and taken back to the scene.

The other passengers were ordered out of the vehicle by the officer driving, and they complied. They were identified as Johnson and Greathouse, who were taken into custody and taken to two different patrol vehicles. While taking the other two into custody, police found a bag of methamphetamine on the ground along with plastic bags used in distribution. Police also searched the Avalanche and found a pipe with heavy residue inside as well.

Also found in the vehicle was a machete.

While officers were processing the scene on Wieuca Way, a suspect was also found in the front yard, but was not reported to be involved in the chase. Lackey was found to have active arrest warrants and taken into custody as well.
