A man who tried to flee after a break-in attempt on Booger Hollow Road apartment was ultimately caught and faces several charges after he was also found drunk behind the wheel by Polk County Police.
Officers late on Monday night, June 10 received a call of a possible burglary attempt at the Booger Hollow Road residence just after 11 p.m.
They found they were looking for Richard Belton Turner, 53, of a Cedartown address, who was alleged to have begun kicking a door after a failed attempt to get into the victim’s apartment.
Reports stated the incident was caught on a neighbor’s Ring doorbell camera as well, and the damage done was at least $400 after several kicks got him nowhere toward his goal of getting inside.
Instead he took off before police arrived in a older model Toyota Tacoma, and was later stopped by police. Due to physical issues, he was unable to perform field sobriety tests.
Turner did agree to a breathalyzer test instead, and blew a .207 BAC.
Police immediately took Turner into custody during the traffic stop on Laurel Place at Greenbriar Drive.
Despite their efforts to do so, police were unable to get a blood sample after the fact for testing to prove his BAC was more than double the legal limit.
PCPD charged Turner with simple assault under the family violence act, driving under the influence, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.
He remains in custody as of this posting on all misdemeanor charges on an $8,000 bond.
