A Lifeflight helicopter ride was required as a precaution for a man who received stab wounds during an altercation at a home on Davenport Street on Sunday evening, according to Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome.
Newsome confirmed that around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, a helicopter landed and carried away the yet-identified male who was taken to an Atlanta-area medical center to ensure that he was suffering from internal injuries after emergency personnel arrived on Davenport Street to help.
He reported the man was conscious and alert when he was taken away.
An on-scene investigation conducted by patrol officers following the stabbing indicated the incident may have happened in self-defense, but Newsome said that Cedartown Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is following up to determine whether an arrest is warranted in the case.
