Police investigating weekend shooting on Central Street

A woman was jailed and a man was taken to the hospital and later went home after a shooting incident on Central Street over the weekend, according to Cedartown Police reports.

Quiana Jatavia Baulding, 30, of a Dallas, GA, address, was taken into custody by a Cedartown Police at gunpoint after an officer arrived on scene to find witnesses screaming and pointing to the suspect on Central Street on Saturday around 10 p.m.

Baulding was standing in the driveway next to the group. Police did not note the presence of the victim anywhere in the report.

Per the incident report filed over the weekend, Cedartown Police did take Baulding into custody without further incident and she followed commands. She was searched and officers found a weapon on her, along with “other pieces of contraband and a pill bottle without a label” that contained what police suspect is crack cocaine, along with a hotel room key.

Baulding was reported to have been checked out by AdventHealth Redmond EMS after they found her ear bleeding and her unresponsiveness when police opened the car door to speak with her again. She was later interviewed by a detective about the incident, then taken onward to the Polk County Jail for booking.

In a follow-up with officials, Polk Today learned a male victim was hit and transported by friends to Polk Medical Center for treatment, he was later transported at Floyd Medical Center where he was evaluated following the incident and later not admitted.

Baulding remained in the jail awaiting bond to be set on felony charges of aggravated assault and possession of cocaine.

Cedartown Police are still investigating the incident.
