A Rockmart man remained in jail without bond set on felony drug and weapons charges after he was searched and found with items on his person by the U.S. Marshals Service while they were in Polk County looking for another suspect.
Quentavius Bernard Williams, 24, of 426 Hampton St., Rockmart, was taken to the Polk County Jail and booked by local officers after he was found with a felony amount of marijuana, a controlled substance and a firearm.
The U.S. Marshals Service found Williams in Rockmart while looking for another suspect and took him into custody after he was searched, and ultimately taken to jail by local police after the Polk County Drug Task Force got involved with the arrest.
Officials did not say whether the initial suspect was arrested during the Marshals’ sweep of the area.
Bernard was booked on charges of felony purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana, and the same charge but due to the proximity of a housing project it is an additional felony. He was also charged with Schedule I Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm or Knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
How much marijuana and additional controlled substances he had at the time of his arrest was not reported by officers at this time.
