A two-year veteran of the Polk County Police honored for not just his service, but for giving back to those in need as he was awarded as the 2024 County Employee of the Year.
Logan Shelton was joined by family and friends for the ceremony on Tuesday evening, January 7 during the Polk County Commission’s work session.
He had previously been honored in November 2024 as the Employee of the Month after going above-and-beyond his job as a police officer by helping a local family in need.

The county posted alongside their own congratulations the following story of Shelton’s charity:
“After a call from the Polk School District, Shelton responded to a situation with homeless mother and 13-year-old child. In addition to handling the nature of the call with judgement-free compassion, Officer Shelton went above and beyond by purchasing the family a hot meal out of his own pocket and worked to help the mother secure a job.”
He went back again to check in with the family, and also found them with a generator, refrigerator, and an electric stove.
“He is truly a selfless, big-hearted, and genuine guy. I’m so pleased to say that he works with me and at the Polk County Police Department,” PCPD Chief Kiki Evans said in comments commending Shelton as the top employee for 2024.
