PCPD: Woman claims she didn’t come over to fight, but charged with simple battery

Savannah Ann Norton

A woman who was charged with misdemeanor simple battery told police before they encouraged her to remain silent she never intended to come over to the victim’s home to get involved in a confrontation, according to reports.

Police arrested Savannah Ann Norton, 23, of a Cedartown address after she was found at the victim’s home after the alleged battery took place and taken into custody when officers saw marks caused by Norton.

Norton was alleged to have shown up and before the victim could keep Norton from coming inside the residence, a verbal and then physical altercation began and the victim was struck in the face and head.

The report added the following:

“Ms. Norton freely stated after she was placed under arrest that she did not come to the residence to fight. She admitted to grabbing Ms. Lefurgey’s clothing while she was ranting to me. I advised her not to incriminate herself any further.”

Norton was taken onward to jail without further incident. She remained in custody awaiting bond to be set on the single charge of simple battery.
