Honors were given to the Polk County Police Department by the Mountain Area Traffic Enforcement Network (MNTEN) of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety on Thursday evening during an awards ceremony in Calhoun for the regional network of law enforcement agencies.

For the second time in the past three years, the PCPD was the top agency in the MNTEN for 2020. They won the Agency of the Year distinction previously in 2018.

Officer Andy Anderson, who is Assistant Coordinator of the Region, accepted the award on behalf of the county during the gathering of agencies.

Along with Anderson’s third-place award for the Occupant Protection category by the agency, Officer Thomas Howard took first place this year in the MNTEN for his work in the Speed Enforcement category.

Plaques were provided for Howard, Anderson and the department.
