Initial incident sparked by incident at Hwy. 27 McDonalds

Polk County Police ultimately were able to track down a suspect in an aggravated assault, and the man charged by Cedartown Police on Saturday evening for the incident added more traffic and assault charges after being cuffed, per reports.
Officers arrested Nathan Seth Ward, 23, of a Statham, Georgia address on Saturday, November 23.
He was booked into custody by Polk County Police after a felony traffic stop on Lee’s Chapel Road at Mullen Road. He remained in custody with a $15,350 bond as of this posting on multiple charges.
PCPD initially got involved in tracking down Ward when they were asked for help from Cedartown Police in finding Ward’s vehicle – a 2011 Nissan Rogue – that had fled from the McDonalds on Highway 27 near the bypass.
Per the report, CPD were seeking Ward after he was alleged to have gotten involved in a domestic altercation that was being charged as an aggravated assault.
Ward was seen bouncing around town three times on FLOCK Cameras setup around the city limits of Cedartown, including times where he was seen around Highway 27 southbound coming back into Polk County after heading north into Floyd County, then again around Booger Hollow Road at North Cave Spring Road, and finally eastbound on MLK Jr. Boulevard at Vann Drive, heading eastbound.
They finally found Ward on Lee’s Chapel Road near Mullen Road and began to follow him, ultimately coming to a felony stop after watching Ward swerve on the roadway and make an illegal U-turn, among other issues with his driving.
Once stopped at gunpoint, he was taken into custody. Police searched his vehicle and found an near empty cold can of beer. He was asked for a breath or blood sample and refused.
During his arrest, he was reported to “defy law enforcement” on the way to jail and an officer “later secured two additional charges through State warrants” due to his behavior.
Ward remains in custody at the Polk County Jail facing a felony charge of aggravated assault and misdemeanor charges of simple assault, simple battery against a police officer/law enforcement dog/corrections or detention officer, plus traffic charges including an open container violation, DUI, improper U-turn, vehicle passing in opposite direction, failure to maintain lane, tag lights required, and driving while license suspended or revoked.
