Mr. Paul Randall “Randy” McDowell, Sr., age 70, of Rome, GA, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at a local hospital.

Randy was born in Cedartown, GA, on August 13, 1953, son of the late G.P. McDowell and the late Geneva Broome McDowell. Randy was a member of Dykes Creek Baptist Church and worked for a number of years as a deputy sheriff for Polk County prior to his retirement.

Survivors Include his wife of 28 years, Cheryl Simmons McDowell; his sons, Paul Randall McDowell Jr. (Tina), Jason McDowell (Jodie), Sean Michael McDowell Sr., and Nick McDowell; his daughter, Jennifer Garrett (Matt); his 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; his brothers, Timothy McDowell (Jan) and Greg McDowell (Debbie); numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with his brother, Rev. Dr. Timothy McDowell, and Pastor Mike Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers are to assemble by 12:30pm on Wednesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, and include: Active, Brad Richards, Ronnie Quinn, Nick McDowell, Malakahi Melendez, Coleman White, and Brandon Crawford; Honorary, Jim Gilbert.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
