New lighting went up in recent days, but there still remains some minor work to complete before the project is wrapped up.

The new strand of lighting that went over Church Street was completed overnight on Thursday, though some strands that were installed will need some repair before the work is considered officially completed.

The extended lighting above downtown streets is part of a larger beautification project in the area around South Marble Street, where the first round of lights went up in December 2018. In recent months, the city has also cleaned up sidewalks as part of the effort spruce up downtown Rockmart for local residents and visitors alike.
