It didn’t take long for a new Dollar General location in Rockmart – a replacement from the one almost across the street – to finish up construction and open to the public.

Recent weeks have seen the opening of the new facility on South Piedmont Avenue, which began construction last year after the city gave its blessing for a rezoning request for the property, formerly the home of a car lot.

The new store in Rockmart opened in June for customers.

Work continues on a new Family Dollar not far up the street next door to the City Complex.

The Rockmart location is one of six located in Polk County, and one of three in the area of East Polk County. A new store went up in Aragon in 2016, and another is located on Highway 278.

The other three are in the Cedartown area, including a Dollar General Market on North Main Street.
