A new chief deputy of the Clerk of the Superior Court was sworn in today by Probate Judge Linda Smith.

Michelle Arrington-Short, who has served as office manager of the Clerk’s Office for the past year and been an employee for the past six years, took the oath to serve in the position under Clerk of Superior Court Stacie Baines.

Baines begins a new four-year term of her own in January after seeking the office in her first election when qualifying in March.

Arrington-Short was a longtime legal assistant before she joined the Clerk’s Office for retired attorney Cal Holmes.
