Mrs. Grace Brothers Blackwood

Mrs. Grace Brothers Blackwood, age 90 of Rockmart, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Grace was born April 8, 1931 in Oneonta, Alabama, to the late Aaron Brothers and the late Annie Bradberry Brothers.

She was also preceded in death by her only sibling, Frances Kelsoe and her husband James Kelsoe; and a nephew, Jimmy Kelsoe.

Grace worked as a seamstress at the old Blue Bell Plant in Oneonta, Alabama until the family moved to Marietta, GA in 1963. She worked as a sewing supervisor at Tipco Sportswear in Smyrna for 23 years, then at Army Navy sewing company for 11 years, until retirement.

After retirement, she continued sewing at home. She made many beautiful quilts and lots of other crafts.

She was an avid gardener!! She always had a vegetable garden and many beautiful flowers.

Grace’s children were her whole life. She is survived by her five children, Mary (Rick) Robinson Grubb, James (Pam) Blackwood, Ewayne Blackwood, Ricky Blackwood and Marilan (Wayne) Everett; daughters-in-law, Barbara Kirby Blackwood, Teresa Blackwood and Pat Kendrick Perkins; 10 grandchildren, David Robinson, Misty Robinson Jacobs, Michelle Robinson, Jeremy Blackwood, Jason Blackwood, Jacob Blackwood, Kristy Jones, Renea Clark, Travis and Trevor Blackwood; 17 great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, 1 niece and 2 nephews; and many friends.

Although she may be out of presence, her LOVE will forever remain in our hearts. We are so proud of what you brought to this LIFE!! You will be greatly missed!!

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 4, 2021 in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Graveside and interment services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Polk Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers: Jeremy Blackwood, Jason Blackwood, Josh Blackwood, Brant Jacobs, Carter Jacobs and David Robinson.

Freeman Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral services for Mrs. Grace Brothers Blackwood.
