Mrs. Derae Ann Smith Short, age 51, of Buchanan, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. She was born on October 2, 1969 in Carrollton, Georgia.
Mrs. Short is survived by her husband, Marty L. Short; mother, Annie Lou Layton Smith; daughters, Amy Short Dill (Michael), Emily Short, and Holly Short; son, Travis Short (Jessica); daughter-in-law, Sandra Short; brothers, Donnie Smith and Dana Smith; grandchildren, Adrianna Short, Leigha Ford, Kameron Ford, Matthew Short, Autumn Short, Marty Lee Short, Noah Short, Alexander Dill, Archie Dill, Amelia Ann Dill, Tristen Dill, and Teagan Dill; and great-grandchild, Bailey Ford.
Mrs. Short is preceded in death by her father, Horace Smith and son, Marty Lee Short.
The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Derae Ann Smith Short will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at one o’clock in afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Sanders Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Short will receive family and friends on Saturday, March 20, 2021, from eleven o’clock in the morning until the service hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Bobby Dean, Jamie Johnson, Tristen Mason, Joshua Hooper, Daryl Browning, Buford Young, John Alexander, Joe Dees. Honorary pallbearers will be the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office.
In accordance with the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the CDC, social distancing guidelines will be in place as well as the use of masks required for all services provided for Mrs. Short.
