Mr. Preston Yarbrough, age 85, of Rockmart, GA passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at his residence following several months of declining health.
He was born in Rockmart, GA on April 27, 1936 a son of the late Winifred Yarbrough and the late Frances Crabb Yarbrough. Mr. Yarbrough had lived all of his life in Polk County and was a retired forty year employee of the Rome Plow Company.
He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon since 1965, taught Sunday School and had served as the church clerk. Mr. Yarbrough enjoyed woodworking and was a clocksmith. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Roy Yarbrough, Clyde Yarbrough and Toby Yarbrough.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Willie Sue Yarbrough to whom he was married on February 5, 1956; daughter, Terrie Yarbrough; two sons: Tim Yarbrough and wife Tracy and Teddy Yarbrough and wife Nana; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, all of Rockmart. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Robinson and Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Teddy Yarbrough, Tim Yarbrough, Steve Hendrix, James Atkins, Floyd Barber and Brent Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will include: Jeremy Walls, Ryan Nichelson, Craig Summers, Joey Shedd and Jerry Bishop.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00pm until 8:00 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
