Mr. Jimmy Waldrop

Mr. Jimmy Allen Waldrop, age 80, of Rockmart, GA and lifelong resident of Polk County, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021.

He was born on March 16, 1940 in Taylorsville, GA, to his late parents: Duffy Waldrop and Margie Scott Waldrop. Mr. Waldrop was retired from General Motors where he worked as a quality control supervisor for 32 years. Jimmy was Baptist by faith and loved to spend his free time watching NASCAR, gardening, and taking his grandsons fishing. He also served as a Mason for 55 years.

Mr. Waldrop was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marlan Waldrop, sisters: Martha Sloman, Geraldine Waldrop and Johnette Brown and brother, Charles (Rob) Waldrop.

Mr. Waldrop is survived by his loving sons: Patrick Waldrop and Brett Waldrop, grandsons: Josh Waldrop, McDuffy Waldrop and Landon Waldrop, sisters: Dixie Plant and Ramona Cummings, brother, Clinton Waldrop and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Jimmy Allen Waldrop will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Chambers officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rockmart Memorial Gardens with Rockmart Lodge # 97 F. & A. M. are in charge of masonic graveside rights.

The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Keith Hamrick, Matt Plant, McDuffy Waldrop, Landon Waldrop, Biddy Braden and Steve Waldrop.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for a visitation on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 12:00 PM until the service begins at 2:00 PM.
