Mr. Charles Franklin Owens

Charles Franklin Owens, age 97, of Griffin, Georgia passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, May 31, 2021.

He was born in Aragon, Georgia and was a man who worked hard from an early age in Aragon and at General Motors-Doraville Parts Department for 35 years. He was a spiritual, Godly man who loved his God Jehovah, serving as a Ministerial Servant in the East Griffin Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

He loved to sit in his recliner and watch the Atlanta Braves, Falcons, and NASCAR. He served in the Army in World War II.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Barbara Jean Owens, and is preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Payne Owens; parents, Clara and Ben Owens; brothers, Lincoln Owens, William Owens, Leon Owens, and Houston Owens; sisters, Doris Womack, Inez Duncan, Ruth Wheeler, and Juanita Spinks.

He is survived by his son, Charles Timothy Owens (Terry); daughters, Pamela Marlowe (David), Carol Fishel (Roy), Lisa Westpheling (Rick), Denise Mitchell (Rick), step-daughter, Donna King (Earl); and 18 grandchildren.

Charles requested a cremation, and the family will have a private graveside service in Rockmart, Georgia and a Memorial Service via Zoom to be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that everyone does something nice for someone else and share their hope from God’s Word, The Bible.

The family would like to thank the nurses (Sara Grace and Jennifer) at Brightmoor Home Hospice and Georgia Living Senior Home Care (especially Erin Wilmot) for their loving and compassionate care during his illness. Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in Griffin will be serving the family.
