Monarca Mexican Restaurant and Wings coming soon to Rockmart

Look for a new restaurant to open in mid-April in Rockmart, bringing a family dream to reality in the Triangle Foods shopping complex.

Vanessa Ramirez Betancourt and her brother Jorge Ramirez are opening Monarca Mexican Restaurant and Wings behind Triangle Foods at 226 Sycamore Grove Court, the site of previous restaurants in past years.

They are awaiting permission for an alcohol-serving license before they open their doors to the public, along with hiring staff and putting final touches on the space.

It brings to an end a process that has been in the works since brother and sister were younger.

“My brother, Jorge and I have had this dream since we were young,” she said. “Our father (Jesus Ramirez) has been a chef in the restaurant industry for many years so naturally, we have always been in the field.”

Continuing the family tradition in the restaurant industry came after a lot of searching for just the right spot.

“After looking at many locations we decided we wanted to be a part of an up and growing community,” she said. “The restaurant was vacant for a very long time so it definitely did require a lot of work but we could always vision the potential it had.”

Monarca Mexican Food and Wings is hiring – per their Facebook announcement applications are being taken by e-mail (see below for the address) – and they are going to be advertising specials and the official grand opening date.

For now, Betancourt said they are thankful for the help and response they’ve had from the City of Rockmart and the Polk County Health Department in getting underway.

“We are very excited to be here and make this our new home!” she said.
