The Polk County Board of Education is back in session on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. for their upcoming regular August meeting and will be addressing financial matters to round out the month according to the agenda posted online that was reviewed from the August 4 work session.
The board will roll through their routine matters first, then hear the latest financial report before they are required to determine the millage rate for 2020 tax bills. Where that figure will land is still up in the air at the moment, but will likely stay around the rate approved in 2019 that was set at 15.664 mills.
Board members will also be looking at 2020 fiscal year budget amendments during the upcoming session.
The public is welcome to attend the board meeting set for Tuesday evening in the meeting room at the PSD Central Office, located at 612 S. College St., Cedartown. Social distancing guidelines are being adhered to in the meetings, which limits the number of seats available for those who wish to take part in the meeting.
Check back Tuesday morning for an updated agenda as more information becomes available.
