Luxury housing coming to South Main Street

Contractors gather for new housing development groundbreaking to start 2025

A project that has been more than a year in the making is now set to begin clearing way for luxury homes in a new development on South Main Street in Cedartown.

The Rehman family is already busy at work in developing a North College Drive property in Cedartown, and are now beginning another with contractor Greg Brown leading the way for their combined fourth housing project together.

Several involved in the project gathered on Friday afternoon for a groundbreaking ceremony ahead of bulldozers getting to work this week. Brown said he expected work to begin on Monday stripping the site and preparing it for construction, but it might be Tuesday depending on the weather.

The townhomes are being sold instead of being rented out.

The City Commission approved the plan in April 2024 to move ahead with a rezoning request.

Plans are have an entrance to the new townhomes use Brewster Street via Washington Street or Philpot Springs Road to gain entry from South Main Street or via MLK Jr. Boulevard as part of traffic mitigation requirements the city set forth in their approval of the project.

A retention pond will also be dug into the back of the site toward Brewster Road for drainage purposes.

The site will accommodate nine new townhomes, built in the same style as those completed in Aragon in 2023 by Brown’s company and the Rehman family in 2023.
