Cedartown Commission, Rockmart Council show their support for National Library Week

A world of knowledge awaits all ages at local libraries, along with many other resources that are all free to use within the walls of the Cedartown Public Library and the Rockmart Public Library.
Both the Cedartown Commission and the Rockmart Council took up the mantle of honoring libraries for National Library week in proclamation, noting their contributions to bettering citizens of all ages through the variety or resources.
From novels and non fiction to DVDs and limited use digital collections, the libraries locally have all kinds of materials for the public to utilize when they get a library card. Many services can be found at each branch in Cedartown and Rockmart, like story times and events for youth, classes for adults and services provided via online access with library cards.
Rockmart will be establishing Mayor’s Reading Club – where Mayor Sherman Ross will read to local youth at the Library – starting in July. Additional details will follow when available. He said during the council meeting that he looks forward to the monthly visits to the Library to read to children.
During the Cedartown Commission meeting on Monday, City Manager Edward Guzman did note after the presentation of the proclamation honoring the library that the building is due for a renovation the city will be contributing to in the near future.
Cedartown and Rockmart’s Public Libraries are both part of the Sara Hightower Regional Library System, which includes the main branch in Rome along with Chattooga, Trion, and Cave Spring libraries.
National Library Week is celebrated officially from April 23 through April 29 this year.
