Annual DNR event returns this weekend

The Kids Fishing Day is coming up on Saturday morning for area residents who want an opportunity to enjoy a day lakeside on a local farm.

Everything is setup and ready to go out at Kenview Farms, who is hosting youth starting at 8 a.m. for the 2022 Kids Fishing Day.

The event sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and other local organizations and businesses provides youth and their families an opportunity to gather around the lake and try their luck at snagging catfish.

Cpl. Chad Cox from DNR noted that the weather is expected to be great for fishing in the pond that is stocked ahead of the event.

Giveaways are also happening during the event with raffle opportunities for fishing poles, gift certificates and more. There’s also the chance to win a kayak for a $1 per ticket.

Snacks will also be available for families during the day.

There is an eight fish limit for each youth, and only those under 15 can participate. Only one pole per youth is allowed.
