Mrs. Joan Gilmore, age 87, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Mrs. Gilmore was born June 10, 1936 to the late Alfonza and Kate Kearley. Joan was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Cedartown.
Mrs. Gilmore was a graduate from the University of Georgia and Reinhart University. Following college she worked and retired from Polk School District with over 35 years of teaching history. She was also a past Cub Scout Leader and past member of Cedartown Junior Service League.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Alton Gilmore and many other relatives.
Surviving are her sons, David Gilmore, Michael Gilmore (Michelle), and Brian Gilmore (Traci); brother, Richard E. Kearley (Judith); grandchildren, Katie Mahieu (Ryan), Aiden Gilmore, and Aaron Gilmore; great grandchild, Griffin Mahieu; sister-in-law, Anne Hightower; nieces and nephews, Debbie Bradberry, Bob Bradberry, Martha Brick-Gorun, and Paige Johnstone; cousins, Gail Mcnew (Ed) and Tommy Grier.
The family will hold a visitation Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Litesey Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow in the chapel at Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Grove officiating. Interment will be held at Northview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.
The family would also like to recognize and personally thanks each person whom had a helping hand in caring for Mrs. Gilmore.
