Jeep rally rolls through Polk for Domestic Violence

Every kind of Wrangler under the sun came through Polk County last Saturday taking part in a Jeep Rally to help raise awareness and funds for the Our House Domestic Violence Shelter in Cedartown.

The fundraising drive was put together by the Haralson County Sheriffs Office in support of Our House, who also serve families in Haralson County who are victims of Domestic Violence. It came during the first weekend of Domestic Violence Awareness Month across the country as well.

Riders started off in Haralson County and crossed over into Polk via Everett Mountain and down back into Morgan Valley and Antioch before meeting up at the Fairgrounds for lunch.

The new rally brough in Jeep lovers from across the region – including Rome’s Jeep club – for the trip that ultimately took riders back into Haralson.

Haralson County Sheriffs Stacy Williams also raffled off three firearms during the event for participants.

Though put together in a short amount of time, Williams said he was glad to get Jeep lovers together for the event in support of Our House.

As for the ducks everyone sees on the windshields in the slideshow above, when asked riders at the event said simply it was a Jeep thing, and others just wouldn’t understand.

Those who want to make a donation in support of the Our House mission can find information on their Facebook page.
