

A tragic accident brought together hundreds of people at the Rockmart High School softball field on Sunday evening and honor a student who was just about to start her career as a Yellow Jacket.
A boating accident took the life of Tori Luke at age 14 on Saturday, and on Sunday the community gathered to show their support in a memorial on the mound and formed a circle around the field. Tori, the daughter of Lady Jackets coach Steve and Robin Luke. She was about to also begin her career on the field as a freshman for Rockmart in softball.
Those in attendance at the memorial also made a #10 out of yellow softballs and laid flowers around it.
“Thank you for coming tonight,” Steve Luke said in a facebook post. “I know she was here thinking about how she touched you and you touched her.”
Arrangements for Tori Luke are being handled by Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home in Rockmart. No announcements have yet been made as of this morning about services.
School officials asked after announcing the death over the weekend that the community please respect the Luke family’s privacy at this time as they grieve the loss of Tori.
