Homemade pipe bomb found during search at South Lewis Road home

Three arrested, Bomb Squad called into collect and detonate device

Polk County Police called in outside help dispose of an explosive device found when officers were conducting a search warrant at noon for drugs and guns.

Chief Kenny Dodd confirmed this evening that an area bomb squad were called to South Lewis Road after officers found the device.

Three men were at the residence at the time, thus far only one has been officially booked into the Polk County Jail. Dodd noted that Jeffery “JJ” Page, William “Bill” Polk, and Joshua Mulkey.

Polk was already booked into the Polk County Jail on an active warrant for probation violation. A full list of charges against the trio were not immediately available.

Officers were out at the South Lewis Road address conducting a search warrant for drugs and guns at the time, Dodd said.

He added the residence on South Lewis Road has been involved in several investigations and incidents over the past years.
