Mayor Sherman Ross was excited on Tuesday evening at the tail end of the Rockmart City Council meeting to announce that churches across the area are bringing back the annual tradition of Holy Week services leading up to Easter Sunday.

Services are going to begin on Monday, March 25 as Rockmart First Methodist is going to host the first service at noon, with the Rev. Danny Echols of CrossView Community Church leading the service.

The Tuesday noon service on March 26 will be hosted by Rockmart Second Baptist Church and leading the service will be Rockmart First Baptist pastor Rev. Jason Odom.

For the midweek service on Wednesday, March 27, First Zion Missionary Baptist Church will be hosting congregants with Pastor Earl Johnson leading worship.

On Thursday, March 28, the Nathan Dean Community Center will be playing host (with CrossView Community Church organizing) as the Rev. Davis Warriner leads the noon service.

Capping off Holy Week on Friday, March 29, the Rockmart First Baptist Church will host the final worship service with the Rev. Shane Petty, head of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Polk County, for the final noon gathering.

Food will be available ahead of each Holy Week service, with the hopes that it’ll be wrapped up by the lunch hour.
