Winnie the Pooh was out on Saturday greeting fans and making sure the Pooh Stick race was kicked off right during the 2022 Holloway Hunny Pot Festival on Saturday, August 17.
The annual event held in Big Spring Park brought out a lot of vendors and patrons who got to check out everything from honey makers to artists to even information about the festival’s namesake, Sterling Holloway.
Holloway, a native son of Cedartown, was a longtime star of screen, stage and airwaves and is the voice of Winnie the Pooh in the animated Disney classic. A display showcasing the career and history of Holloway was put up for the event in the Women’s Building.

The annual event put together by the city also included the Pooh Stick Race, which raises money for local causes with the purchase of a honey dipper that Winnie the Pooh then dropped in a pile into Big Spring for a race down the channel from the Water Plant to the end when it meets the natural channel to Cedar Creek before you reach the cobblestone bridge.
The Hunny Pot Festival launched in 2019 and was forced into a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19, but returned in 2021 to Big Spring Park.
