The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday the arrest of a man who was involved in a chop shop and had stolen a Chevrolet Blazer from Alabama, according to a release from investigators on Thursday afternoon.

Haralson County law enforcement reported that Shannon Dewayne Cook, a suspect wanted for several charges involved in the theft of the older model Blazer back in May.

The case for the HCSO began on May 22 when the department was notified by the New Site Police Department in Tallapoosa County that the Blazer was stolen the day before, and they had developed information that the Blazer was now in Haralson County.

A search was made by deputies in suspected locations, but it wasn’t found and continued their investigation over the following days.

Then on May 26, the New Site Police asked the Sheriff’s Office to share info on Facebook about the missing Blazer at the request of the family, offering a reward for its return. Tips came in on sightings in the western part of Haralson County based on that post. The following day on May 27, deputies found the Blazer on Allen Road and as they approached it, the driver Shannon Dewayne Cook, took off in the vehicle and rammed a gate to get off the property where it was found.

“Deputies on scene at Allen Road loated some of the stolen vehicle parts as well as vehicles within VINs, (and) all suspect vehicles were impounded and the stolen parts taken into evidence,” the release from the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Police swore out warrants for both Shannon Cook – the suspect in the theft of the Blazer – Fallon Cook, and Darin Thompson on several charges.

Fallon Cook was charged and remains in the Haralson County Jail with no bond on the single felony charge of Hindering Apprehension of a Criminal. She’s remained there for the past 22 days since his arrest.

Additionally, Thompson faces charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Chop Shop and Hindering Apprehension of a Criminal. He remains in jail as well without bond.

Shannon Cook was charged and was booked on Wednesday after he was found by police. Cook was charged with felonies for Operating a Motor Vehicle Chop Shop, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, and misdemeanor Tampering with Evidence. No bail has been set on his charges as of this posting.

Per the release, Shannon Cook was arrested on June 16, 2021 in Polk County Georgia by Haralson County Sheriff Stacy Williams along with Haralson County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations unit and other Law Enforcement officers.
