Dozens of cars and trucks were lined up early waiting for volunteers to give the OK this morning to take part in the 2020 Youth Summerfest/Stockings of Love event at Bert Wood Youth and Athletic Center this morning.
Note: DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR VEHICLES. SCHOOL SUPPLIES ARE BEING DISTRIBUTED IN THE CAR LINE.
Giveaways began at 11 a.m., and 500 backpacks are available until 1 p.m. for youth Pre-K to 12th grade. Additionally, free food and a clothing closet for the Christmas in July event held by Stockings of Love through Victory Baptist Church is happening as well. People can go into the Bert Wood log cabin – only 10 at a time – to see what offerings are available free of charge. Food is also being given away, as well as bibles. The event ends at 1 p.m.
