Hundreds of people were served and walked away from Ham and Egg Day 2022 with smiles and full bellies in Cedartown on Saturday morning as the Optimist Club hosted their annual fundraising event once again this weekend.
Ham and Egg Day saw 516 people served throughout the morning event at the Goodyear Civic Center in Cedartown, held annually to raise money for the club to turn around and give to other organizations. Along with sponsorships, that means thousands of dollars were brought in to help local youth and other organizations with donations for 2022.
Junior Optimists were on hand from Cedartown High School to help serve up the hundreds of breakfast plates this morning as well, while those enjoying their meal also go to mingle with local candidates for office on the May 24 Primary ballot.
The record Ham and Egg Day was 667 people, set five years ago.

The Cedartown Optimist Club’s fundraising efforts will go to help organizations like Boy Scouts Troop 21, the Cedartown High School Junior Optimist Club, the library’s Summer Reading Program, the annual Optimist Club Essay Contest for youth, Ferst Readers of Polk County, local foster parents, Graduate Polk, the Jonah Bag Backpack Program, the annual Optimist Junior Golf Tournament, scholarships for Junior Optimists, Murphy Harpst Children’s Center, Polk Family Connection’s annual Teen Maze, the 4-H program, the Livestock organization and Youth Summerfest.
The Cedartown Optimist Club was chartered in 1958 and has provided continued service to local youth for more than six decades. Find additional information on the club’s Facebook page.
They meet the first and third Thursday of the month for breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Goodyear Civic Center in Cedartown.
