HABERSHAM COUNTY – Two residents of Rockmart died as a result of a high speed crash week on the eastern side of the state, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
GSP confirmed that Douglas Clover, 46, and Debra Minneman, 61, both died along with a dog in the vehicle when it ran a stop sign at Duncan Bridge Road and Gainesville Highway in a white 2012 Cadillac CTS while driving “at a high speed” sometime after midnight on December 6.
Both Clover and Minneman died on the scene, per GSP.
The Cadillac went across Gainesville Highway and then went over the shoulder and onto private property owned by the Fieldale Farms Corporation where they have a plant and struck a curb before it went airborne.
It went 30 feet in the air before it struck a railroad track in a freight railroad yard with a nose drive, then came to rest against a railroad car parked on the track.
GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation.
The Habersham County Sheriffs Office released the names of the victims today, per WGAU Radio reporting in Athens.
