GPB reporting state is sitting on more than $1 billion in COVID funds while budget cuts loom

Georgia Public Broadcasting’s website reported on Monday that based on their investigation, the state government more COVID funds than they aren’t passing down to the city and county level, while preparing for hard budget cuts to come for the FY 2021 budget after the session returned.

“Georgia has received more than $4 billion in federal funding to help the state and local governments soften the blow of the coronavirus pandemic, but most cities and counties haven’t seen a dime, an investigation by the Georgia News Lab and GPB News has found.”
