The Rockmart Yellow Jackets football programs are working together early during the summer break in conditioning and drills during sessions throughout this and the coming weeks at the high school.

Teammates took to the field – some in helmets, others without – and got to work in passing drills, learning the proper stance for blocking and tackling, along with defensive work as well as the team seeks to prepare for what is expected to be a tough season.

Along with workouts inside the weight room and outdoors, the Jackets also have some other recent news to share: a 2021 schedule.

The Jackets are set to host Rome to officially start the season on August 20, followed by Cedartown on Aug. 27, then go directly into the region schedule facing Coahulla Creek after a bye week, then a trip to Sonoraville, another bye week, returning home to face North Murray, then trips to LFO, Murray County, returning home for Adairsville, a trip to LaFayette, and rounding out region play hosting Ringgold to round out the regular season.

Rockmart took a fifth region title in a row and their first in 6-AAA during the 2020 season, and made it to the third round of the playoffs against Cedar Grove before being knocked out in a three-overtime thriller.
