Flag-waving event coming up Saturday afternoon at PCSO

Sheriff Johnny Moats hopes to provide people the opportunity this weekend to show their patriotic spirit at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office during a Saturday afternoon event.

He’s already got 200 handheld flags to wave during the event along Highway 278 being held from 2 to 5 p.m.

Moats said previously it is not a protest, but a celebration of the nation’s flag and the United States. The event will strictly allow just three flags: the U.S. flag, the Georgia state flag and the thin blue line flag. Additionally, the family-friendly event will not allow any open carry of firearms on the Polk County Sheriff’s Office property. Participants are encouraged to wear red, white and blue for the afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Office will also have their American flag-themed Humvee on display during the event.

Parking will be in the lot beside the DMV. Those needing an address can put 172 Cline Ingram Jackson Road, Cedartown into their GPS.
