A Cedartown and Polk County Volunteer firefighter were honored in recent days by the Cedartown Exchange Club as they continue their annual support and appreciation for first responders in the community.
Josh Fenley was selected as the Cedartown Firefighter of the Year by the Exchange Club. He came to work with Cedartown in December of 2007.
Since that time, Fenley has worked his way up to the rank of CFD Engineer by obtaining his Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2 Certifications.
“Josh is currently a Medical First Responder and he is as knowledgeable as any EMT within our Department,” said CFD Chief Felix White. “I can make that statement without any hesitation because I hear what his peers say about his job performance on medical calls as well as fire calls. I also have feedback from the public in the form of letters of recommendation. Josh has been recognized twice that I know of and there have probably been several that he has kept as a secret.”
Chief White continued: “Josh is a person that absolutely does not seek recognition for doing his job, but he definitely deserves it.”
Polk County Public Safety Director Randy Lacey also joined with Tim Arnold, a volunteer with the department, who was named the Firefighter of the Year for the Polk County Volunteer Fire Department.
