Mr. Eddie Hayes, age 71, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Sunday morning, May 19, 2024, at his residence.
Eddie was born in Dallas, GA, on December 31, 1952, son of the late Bob Ezra Hayes and Betty Williams Hayes.
He had lived all his life in Rockmart and was of the Baptist faith. Eddie retired from JL Lester & Sons/Eby Brown Grocers in 2022 following 53 years of service. He enjoyed watching television, especially old westerns.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by a son, Edwine Keith Hayes, a sister, Martha Davis, and two brothers, Billy Hayes and Larry Hayes.
Eddie is survived by his companion, Kathy Bowman; step-daughter, Ashley Brown; sisters, Diane Cole, Betty (Phillip) Harvell, and Becky Resser. Five step-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Eddie will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. John Lemmings officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Eddie’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.
