Man arrested had aggravated assault, cruelty to children warrants

Two suspects were taken into custody by the Polk County Drug Task Force while they were conducting a search on a residence on Wednesday, one of which came upon the search while it was well underway during the evening incident.

April Beth Sims, 41, of a Pine Pitch Road, Cedartown arrest, was taken into custody first by authorities after the DTF reported she was reported to be found inside with trafficking amounts of ecstasy, methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana. Agents also found operational scales and two firearms in the residence.

During that search, Justin Donald Wheeler, 35, arrived on scene and was found to have warrants for his arrest, along with 11 Schedule 4 pills (three different types), and a bag of ecstasy.

Wheeler’s warrants included one for aggravated assault, and another for cruelty to children in the first degree.

He was also charged with marijuana possession.

Sims remained in custody without bond set as of this posting on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs, marijuana or methamphetamine, possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine with intent, two counts of possession of a firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. She was also charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Wheeler’s bond was also not set as of this posting. He faces felony charges off the warrants of aggravated assault and cruelty to children in the first degree – maliciously causing excessive pain, along with new charges for possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and a Schedule I controlled substance, and a probation violation charge. He also has a misdemeanor charge of driving while license suspended or revoked.
