DTF nab dealer with undercover sales of cocaine, meth and GHB

An arrest reported earlier in the week in the jail report noted the end of an investigation by the Polk County Drug Task Force that involved sales to an undercover officer back in August and September 2022, according to a release from the organization today.

Donald Donnell Banks, 42, of a Cedartown address, was arrested by Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies after warrants were taken out for the sale of three different kinds of drugs to an undercover Drug Task Force agent last year.

Per the release, Banks is alleged to have sold GHB, cocaine and methamphetamine to the undercover agent. The gamma-hydroxybutyrate, or GHB, is also commonly referred to as the date rape drug.

The sales were made between the end of August and mid-September 2022, but warrants were taken out and his arrest made this past Friday, May 5.

Banks remains in custody on felony charges of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance with intent, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, two counts of use of a communication facility in committing or facilitating in a felony act, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and sale of methamphetamine.

His bond was denied.

Cedartown, Ga. – May 10, 2023– A Cedartown man was arrested after agents with the Polk County Drug Task Force were able to successfully purchase illegal drugs during an undercover operation.

Between the dates of Aug. 31, 2022, and Sept. 12, 2022, agents with the DTF conducted undercover purchases of cocaine, gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), and methamphetamine from Donald Banks. 

An agent with the Polk County Drug Task Force obtained warrants on Banks and subsequently, deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested Banks on May 5, 2023. 

Banks was charged with the following: sales of methamphetamine, sales of cocaine, sales of schedule I drug GHB, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute a schedule I drug GHB, and two counts of use of a communication device for the commission of a felony.

Banks currently remains in the Polk County Jail.
