A driver with a medical emergency ended up in the water and was saved by a passing Good Samaritan this morning, according to a Polk County EMA official.

First responders were called out to a lake on Hendrix Road after the driver of a sedan suffered a seizure and the car was sent in reverse into the water around 11 a.m.

According to a spokesperson with Polk County EMA, a passing motorist played the role of savior and pulled the driver out of the car and onto shore after seeing what happened.

Polk County 911 dispatched emergency personnel who arrived on the scene to find the driver already out of the water. The driver was transported by Redmond EMS to an area hospital for further treatment.

Polk County EMA’s rescue boat was called out to the scene in the aftermath to help remove the car from the lake thanks to the aid of Polk County Volunteer firefighters.
