Mr. David “Goat” Cummings, age 68, of Rockmart GA, passed away at his residence on Monday, December 4, 2023, following a brief illness.
He was born in Decatur Georgia on April 12, 1955. A son of the late William F. “Bill” Cummings and the late Jenna Lee Wilson Cummings.
David have lived all his life in Rockmart and was a 1973 graduate of Rockmart High School and attended West Georgia College and was a graduate of The Motorcycle Mechanic Institute of Atlanta. David loved to travel, specially making yearly treks to the west including Montana, Washington and Alaska where he made friends all over the country.
He was a great lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed climbing mountains and had hiked the Appalachian Trail. He also greatly enjoyed riding his motorcycle and bicycling. David was a self-employed entrepreneur working in property management and owned and operated Cummings Construction Company. He was a member of Rockmart Church of Christ.
Mr. Cummings is survived by his loving wife, Rita Cummings to whom he was married to on June 17, 1995 of Rockmart, GA; daughters: April Lanier (Brad) and Kerri King (Chad); sister, Julie Moss (Tommy); and brother, Tommy Cummings; grandchildren: Briley King, Avery King, Ansley Lanier and Dawson Scoggins; uncle, Lee Cummings; nieces: Jenna Moss, Abby Cummings and Abby Robinson; nephews: Benji Shanks (Alexis) and Thomas Moss (Ashley); brother-in-law; Anthony Robinson (Shani) and his beloved fur babies: Skeeter and Freckles.
Memorial Services for Mr. David “Goat” Cummings will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with eulogies by Benji Shanks and Kent Mathis and with Rev. Jeff Dabbs officiating and Minister Justin Mason providing prayer.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 12:00 PM until the service hour at 2:00 PM.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Freddy Dunn, Keith Lindsey, Bill Bean, Dave Ferguson, Ricky Sorrells, Jerry Ferguson, Mark Holder, Mark Coalson, James Raughton, Dennis Gable, Barry Coal, Ralph Morgan, Red Forsyth, David Purvis and Chris Olnsted.
