COVID-19 Town Hall hosted by Redmond, City of Rockmart starts at 6 p.m. tonight

Want to gain a greater understanding of the COVID-19 and the vaccines to combat the deadly virus? Then you might want to make a trip to downtown Rockmart tonight.

The City of Rockmart and Redmond Regional Medical Center have partnered together to provide a town hall event free for the public to attend to learn more from local medical professionals about the novel coronavirus that has caused a global pandemic for more than a year and a half, and the vaccination efforts underway meant to deter the further spread and mutation of the virus in the general public.

The goal of the upcoming town hall is to help educate the public about the virus and the vaccination efforts underway locally, statewide, and around the country.

The Rockmart Theatre is hosting the event downtown starting at 6 p.m. Masks are required for those who want to attend the event.

Redmond Regional Medical Center’s Dr. Julie Barnes, Dr. Tyler Dubbs, Dr. Tessa Gibson, and Dr. Megan White will be available to provide answers to some of the most pressing concerns for local residents about the virus, and what they can do to protect themselves. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner Jina Ford will be taking questions as well.

Assuming there are no technical difficulties, Polk.Today will also be providing a courtesy livestream for those who want to participate in the event, but don’t wish to venture into a large group of people.

Check back for additional details about that Livestream later this afternoon.
