Locals and visitors alike can’t always rely on Google Maps to get them to the right spot, so it is good news that Polk County’s government has put together a new fold-up map that is now available to all.
The cities will get copies of the map to distribute in the coming days, but hard copies of the map were available during Monday’s County Commission work session for participants to take home with them. The map features a layout of Polk County and the cities of Aragon, Cedartown and Rockmart on each side, and information about local attractions. Previously, maps have been created by the Polk County Chamber of Commerce, but were funded through advertising printed on each.
This map was completely funded by the county government.
County Commissioner Scotty Tillery and County Manager Matt Denton both gave the map a positive review following the Commission’s work session on Monday evening, and were glad to have the resource available in coming days at places like the Silver Comet Trailhead in Rockmart and the Cedartown Welcome Center and Depot, among others.
The project was spearheaded by Assistant County Manager Connor Hooper.
“The maps will be beneficial not only for our residents, but also for those traveling on the Silver Comet Trail or those just passing through our county,” Hooper said. “The map was updated and revised to provide more space for information regarding our cities as well.
