County Commission postpones work, regular sessions to next week

The Polk County Commission was set to gather tonight for a work session to hear issues and celebrate employees, and then meet again for their regular session to kick off 2022 business with a number of votes planned.

Instead, they’ll be meeting next week.

Assistant County Manager Connor Hooper reported that the Commission has decided to postpone their upcoming work and regular sessions that were set for this evening and Tuesday evening to Monday, January 10 and Tuesday, January 11.

Recent increases in COVID-19 cases are the main reason that the Commission is moving their sessions back a week.

Among the items they plan to tackle during next Monday evening’s work session – still set for 5:15 p.m. – are hearing about employee compensation from Superior Court Clerk Stacie Baines, celebrating the first employee of the month for 2022 and those reaching milestones, and the first-ever Employee of the Year award for County Employees.

You can check out the agendas for the work session and regular session in their respective links.
