County Commission moving to Zoom meetings for January as COVID cases rise again

Amid a large increase in new COVID-19 cases, Polk County officials are deciding that their best course of action and to act as examples for the community is to move back to Zoom meetings for their January 2021 sessions.

Links are not yet available to be able to setup to watch the work session on Monday at 5:15 p.m. and the regular session on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., but are expected on Monday ahead of the start of the first of the two meetings of the week.

Agendas for the start of the year did include a request from Marion Williams to discuss Ferst Readers and their upcoming program for February ahead of a fundraiser next month, along with Employee Service Awards and the Employee of the month.

Additionally, committee repots are being discussed as well, before reviewing agenda items for Tuesday evening and adjournment. The Commission gathers again on Jan. 12 to vote on a chair and vice chair for the year, the 2021 holiday calendar for the year, purchase of new jail intercom systems, a proposed 2021 paving list, amendments to the 2021 Capital Improvement Project list, a variance request from James White previously tabled, a request for new body cameras for the Sheriff’s Office, and the finance report before commissioner comments.

Check back on Monday for links for the Zoom session and how to watch.
