In the month-ending daily update from the Georgia Department of Public Health, new hospital patients were added to the tally and alongside another increase in cases for Polk County.
The daily count added 23 new positives for COVID-19, and two new hospital patients among the thousands that were added Friday to the statewide total, and the hundreds of new hospital patients.
Today’s increase brings the total number since tracking began in Polk to 637 positives, and 31 people who have required hospital treatment. The number of people who have died from COVID-19 remains at six locally.
Statewide, there were 81 new deaths from the virus, 4,149 new cases and 386 new hospital patients based on the numbers from the Georgia Department of Public Health released this afternoon. That put the total at 186,352 positives since tracking began, 3,752 deaths, 18,689 hospital cases and out of that, 3,414 intensive care cases.
Nationally, COVID-19 figures stood at 4,473,974 positives for the virus, an increase of 68,042 based on data confirmed on July 30. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention also posted 1,216 new deaths, which brought the national figure to 151,499 people since the beginning of the year.
