Another two cases were added to the total for Polk County’s figures for COVID-19, according to the latest state Department of Health reporting. That now brings the tally up to 64 as of the evening of May 6.
Polk County’s tally of hospitalizations remained at 11 for the midweek update this evening, and fortunately there have still been no reported deaths from the novel coronavirus locally.
Sadly, however, the death toll on the state level now reached 1,313 people who have lost their lives to the virus. Some 30,738 people have been found positive for COVID-19 in Georgia out of the 204,137 tests conducted.
The hospital admission rate on the state level remains at 5,782, with 1,351 of those people requiring admission to the intensive care unit.
Nationally, the total number of people across the United State tested and found with COVID-19 was above 1.19 million people, and the death toll had increased past 70,000 based on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports this evening.
Around the area, the figures were the following for the evening report on May 6:
- Bartow County continued to trend upward in case figures for the evening update, now standing at 359 positive tests returned and 124 hospitalizations. The county reported 32 people have died from the virus so far.
- Paulding County reported 212 cases of COVID-19, with 53 hospitalizations and 10 deaths.
- Floyd County had increased to 152 positive tests for the virus, with 40 hospitalizations and 11 deaths.
- Haralson County added another case to increase to 31 for the evening update, with eight people hospitalized due to the virus and two deaths.
