A trend of smaller increase to start a week and then a double-digit jump held true with another day of positives going up, though other key figures in tracking the virus remained flat again.
The latest update over COVID-19 from the Georgia Department of Public Health put the latest total of Polk County positives at 837 since tracking began earlier in the year, up another 29 new cases in the past 24 hours.
The DPH reported 38 hospital patients and 11 deaths , those figures remaining stable after increases at the beginning of the month. New deaths have not been added in six days of reporting, and the last new hospital figures were reported four days ago.
Across Georgia, another 3,639 new cases were reported statewide in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 222,588 positives since testing began. That is out of 1.9 million-plus tests, a 10.8% infection rate.
Sadly, another 137 new deaths were reported in Georgia in the past day which brought the overall total to 4,351 since tracking began.
The latest report added 355 new hospital patients, bringing the overall number to 21,031 people who needed treatment for COVID-19. Out of that total figure, 3,832 ICU patients were recorded by state health officials.
Some 5,064,171 total positives nationwide as of Monday confirmed by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, an increase of 40,522 from the previous day’s reporting. That includes 565 new deaths, which brought the total since tracking began to 162,407.
